How God Works

 The words in red say it all. I read the KJV Bible years ago, The New Testament, Red Letter Edition teaches many valuable lessons. My favorite one is where Jesus says: When appearing before a court, or men of authority, do not rehearse your words, rather you should let the Holy Spirit put the words in your mouth at the appropriate time. When I have done this, things have always worked out well for me. Even as I write these words The Holy Spirit is guiding me. I write songs and short stories to keep myself busy and hopefully entertain some folks at the same time.

A friend of mine, who happened to be my roofing boss at the time dropped me off to do some work at a house belonging to a friend of his. That afternoon he came to pick me up. As we were leaving, he pointed at a sign in the yard, and said, see that?  He stopped his truck for a moment so I could read it. It said, “All I have, I give God credit for” I said, “Great words”!

He said, you must be kidding me. That man worked his tail off for everything he’s got! I had no reply. (Sometimes The Holy Spirit wants you to be silent)

One day he was dropping me at home, and as he paid me up for the week he said, he wouldn’t have any work for me for a while, so I should find a job to get me by for a while. I said, God always takes good care of me, so I wasn’t too worried. 

He said, you know I don’t even believe in God, but somehow I believe you. When I got inside, I thought about what he said. I was happy he was starting to see how God works!

     If 68 people look at a post and no one puts a heart on it, does that mean your post is no good, or does it just mean .,., you have been dealing with people like that for too long .,., it's the millions who think differently that I would like to reach .,., but Google won't let me.

Don't Push it

      When I was just getting started in the construction field, long about 18, I guess, we were building condominumums on P-Cola Beach, just about one of the hottest places on the planet, at that time of year .,., the rest of the guys were already rolling up extension cords and putting stuff in their trucks, I was putting together corners, and just had a few more nails to put in the one I was working on .,., so .,., instead of letting it go till tomorro, and start picking up .,., I decided to finish those last few nails, the board was crooked ., so, I pushed it in to place with one hand and went to shoot it wih the nail gun .,., Oooops! The gun slipped and my finger hit the trigger just as the gun hit my middle finger .,., 16 penny framing nail sticking half way through my center finger. Yikes! I screamed, and started running in circles around the area I was in, somebody on the ground leaned up a latter for me to get down.

     The bosses name was Gay, he came running over and took my hand and looked at the damage .,., he was not a happy camper! He said .,., Get in the truck .,., we headed across the bridge into Gulf Breeze .,., one of the big bosses was right beside us, I acted like I was gonna wave at him with the hand with the nail in it .,., Gay said, No, don't do that!

     We got to the hospital in Gulf Breeze, and immdiately a guy went to get something for the pain ., came back with a syringe full of Novicane or some strong local pain killer, and shot it right in the gap between my center finger and the one's on each side. (Two Shots) The pain went away almost instantly .,., it was finally decided after an x-ray, that the nail missed the bone, and a guy with a pair of pliers came and started twisting and turning it, and finally pulling it out.They said if it had got any closer to the bone, they would have had to amputate part of the finger.

Give me the strapping

      I had been on the road for a while, came up to Maine from down south, needing a job real bad. When I got hired by a guy to do some construction work, on a new house, my boss got up on a scaffolding and said ‘Give me the strapping” I looked around and did’nt see any strapping. He once again said in a firm voice, “Give Me the Strapping” I was running around like a crazy man looking for a piece of strapping, like you use down south to keep stuff together. He got really mad and said it again, then jumped down and grabbed a piece of wood that was in a big stack right where I was standing. I said .,., that’s a one by two. He said .,., not up here .,., now when I get back up there .,., Give me the blankety Blank Strapping!!
